La canción compuesta por el argentino Cholo Aguirre, fue estrenado en 1962, abriendo el camino a temas de similar temática como “Rio Manso” y otros.
Julio Iglesias que en aquellos años dedicaba buena parte de su esfuerzo artístico a la conquista del mercado latinoamericano, encontró en esta composición de Aguirre la esperada llave del éxito.

Augusto Algueró fue el primer autor musical español con presencia en listas de éxitos de habla no hispana

El compositor Augusto Algueró

Creemos que és de obligada justicia, reconocer que fue Augusto Algueró, (si alguien no nos corrige), él primer autor español, en colocar un éxtio en listas inglesas y estadounidenses.

La composión fue creada el año 1959 por el que hasta entoces era conocido como Augusto Algeró hijo con el titulo de “La Montaña”; la balada interpretada por José Gardiola conseguría el tercer lugar en el palmares del recien nacido Festival de la Canción de Benidorm. Aquella primera edición fue ganada por la canción “Un telegrama” interpretada a semejanza de del Festival de San Remo en Italia por dos interpretes, Monna Bell y Juanito Segarra, y en segundo lugar “D. Quijote”, gran exito en España para los recien llegados desde Argentina, el grupo Los 5 Latinos, con Estela Raval como gran voz del conjunto.

“La Montaña” conocería multiples versiones en España, entre las de más éxito, las de José Guardiola, Sara Montiel, Elder Barber, Arturo Millan… y las internacionales con letra en ingles que paso a llamarse “If She Should Come To You”, Interpretadas por Anthony Newley, Roger Williams y Matt Monro entre otros.

Antony Newley fue un cantante londinense nacido en 1931, de gran popularidad en aquellos años, que llevó la canción creada por Algueró hasta el nº 4 en listas inglesas y al nº 67 en listas de EEUU en 1960.

Newley lanzó la versión en ingles de “La Montaña”, justro tras haber conseguido dos sonadismos numeros uno en el Reino Unido con las canciones “Why” y “Do You Mind” editadas por el sello Decca.

El barcelonés Augusto Alguero nació en 1934 y falleció en 2011, dejando un reconocidísimo testamento musical compuesto por algunos de los más populares hits de la España de los 60” y los 70” como “Chica ye-ye”, Te quiero, te quiero”, “Noelia”, Penélope”, “Estando contigo”, “Tómbola”, “Vivo cantando”, “Enamorada” y tantas otros.

Muere Lou Reed, una estrella del rock entre el culto y la maldición

Tenía 71 años, había nacido en Freeport, Long Island, Nueva York, 2 de marzo de 1942. Le conocimos primero con  The Velvet Underground y luego en solitario. Compramos su disco “Heroin” con la sensación real del que compra algo prohibido, en realidad, algo que fue cierto en nuestro país. Ediciones con y sin canciones censuradas en unos años en los que casi todo estaba vetado.

Lugo vino “Walk on the wild side” en 1973, el single llegó hasta la posición nº 16 del Hot 100 de Billboard y el top 10 de las listas británicas; en España alcanzaría la posición nº 11 de Los Superventas, una proeza que demuestra el grado de culto que el artista llegó a tener entre los jóvenes de nuestro país.

Lo realmente curioso son las escasas ventas y las pocas referencias que encontramos a su discografía en las listas de popularidad de USA y UK. Pese a todo  temas como “Heroin”, “Rock and Roll”, “I’m Waiting for the Man”, “Sweet Jane” y especialmente ““Walk on the wild side”, son canciones que forman parte de la memoria colectiva de varias generaciones de jóvenes que guardan culto a Lou Reed.
